About the Frazer Theatre and the Knaresborough Players

The Frazer Theatre is owned and operated by The Knaresborough Players. It is staffed entirely by volunteers.

The Frazer Theatre is funded entirely through the proceeds from the shows and events held at the theatre. We do not receive any regular income from any other sources.

Occasionally we may be successful in applying for a grant however this is usually for a specific purpose. For example in recent years we have been awarded grants towards the purchase of technical equipment

As the Frazer Theatre is staffed by volunteers, attendance is on an "as needed" basis rather than at fixed times, so we are not able to offer any work experience

We are always seeking enthusiastic and proactive people to get involved in the running of the theatre. There are a number of roles that people could become involved with such as helping with the front of house for performances, carrying out maintenance activities or working in the technical team.

There are also opportunities to get involved with Knaresborough Players productions, not just as an actor but also helping with backstage activities such as stage crew, sound and lighting, costumes and set construction

We usually put together a minimum of 3 productions with plays in May and October as well as our annual family pantomime in January.

There may also be additional smaller productions. We also hold members-only events such as readthroughs and more informal performances by members who may want to try something out.

Our membership is open to anyone for a small annual charge (currently £25 per year, reduced to £15 for over 60s and those not in employment).

No, we do not require any prior experience for those wishing to take part although we do hold auditions for individual productions.

Auditions are open to both members and non-members, although anyone offered a part will be expected to join The Knaresborough Players
